about

Heather Anne Thomas and Kreis Beall, met in 2002 in Missoula, Montana and found that they enjoyed one another’s company.  After spending a week together in 2004 photographing the Queen of Mardis Gras in Mobile, Alabama, the seed for a partnership was planted. Heather Anne’s real world experience in the photography industry and Kreis’s business and hospitality acumen provided the dreams for a photography studio. And so, in January of 2006, Heather Anne made the move from The Big Apple to Maryville, Tennessee to partner with Kreis, and beall + thomas photography was born.

After studying painting and art history at The University of Texas, Heather Anne continued to hone her technical skills while assisting some of the greatest photographers in Houston and New York City.  After 20 years in the photo industry and 14 years as beall + thomas, Heather Anne is known for capturing the subtle character of people, food, events, and homes.  She has photographed multiple cookbooks, advertising campaigns, editorial assignments, and James Beard award winning chefs. Heather Anne also has connections to incredible crew members who are able to make the impossible possible and have fun while doing it.
